26 August 2016

A team of students from the University of Leeds Faculty of Engineering have won a Global Student Design Contest with their post-stroke patient therapy device, Project ALAN.

The Project ALAN team beat university projects from around the world to win the competition. The Advanced upper-Limb Autonomous Neuro-rehabilitation (ALAN) device offers the concept of robotics-enabled remote physiotherapy, a way for stroke patients to practice physical therapy without the presence of a therapist, allowing patients to practice more and to recover faster.

The University of Leeds Faculy of Engineering is ranked in the top 75 for Civil Engineering and top 100 for Chemical Engineering in the Shanghai Rankings Academic Ranking of World Universities 2016, while following the latest National Student Survey, Leeds is now ranked number one in the Russell Group for Computer Science and Electronic and Electrical Engineering.
