London Met journalism students visit Sky, BBC and Guardian newsrooms

27 November 2015

London Metropolitan University journalism students got the chance to visit Sky, BBC and Guardian newsrooms this week as part of Enhancement Week.

Enhancement Week is a chance for London Met students to expand their learning in practical ways, finding out more about what it’s really like to work in their dream profession. There are no formal classes during this week, but plenty of opportunities for students to explore a particular interest or consider something new.

Highlights included a special question and answer session with BBC’s Assistant Political Editor Norman Smith, while John Sweeney, an investigative reporter for Newsnight and Panorama and Alex Murray, a broadcast journalist in the user-generated content hub, gave special talks throughout the week.

Trips also took place to Sky News, BBC News and The Guardian, so students could see how news stories were managed and developed. “It was a great experience,” commented Sohail Loun, a third year student.
