Loughborough University secures record 36th BUCS championship

01 August 2016

Presented at the annual British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) awards dinner in July, Loughborough University was crowned BUCS Champion for the 36th year in a row.

The BUCS table totals up points from 47 different sports, with institutions from across all four home nations competing. The final points tally saw Loughborough finish top on 5,793 points, 1,700 points clear of Durham and Edinburgh.

Director of Sports Development at Loughborough, Tim Garfield, said: “Naturally we’re delighted to retain our BUCS title and further extend our winning streak. Having said that the competition is undoubtedly getting stronger we must continue to keep improving; the moment we get complacent is the moment that our winning run will come to end.”
