A new study has shown that more students graduating from UK universities are leaving with the highest possible award than ever before.
Figures supplied by the Higher Education Statistics Agency from 2015-16 have shown that it is now more common for students to be graduating with a first-class degree than a lower second (2:2). The upper second degree (2:1) remains the most widely awarded degree, awarded to just over 50% of students.
The highest proportion of first-class degrees awarded by universities included Imperial College London (41.8%), University of Surrey (41.2%), University of Dundee (34.8%) and University of East Anglia (34%).
