UCL and Institute of Education Merge

07 January 2015

University College London, ranked 5th in the latest QS World University Ranking, has merged with the Institute of Education, creating the largest university in London with a combined 35,000 students shared between the two Bloomsbury powerhouses.

The Institute of Education has been renamed as the UCL Institute of Education and will become a faculty at UCL. London Mayor Boris Johnson said it will help “attract the brightest students from around the world”, while Michael Arthur, UCL president, called the merger “one of the most significant events in UCL’s history”.
