UK cements its place as world leader in QS World University Rankings
15 September 2015
London confirmed its place as a world leader in education today as four institutions placed in the top 40 of the prestigious QS World University Rankings.
The London School of Economics was the big winner as it rose from 71st to 35th, due in part to QS changing their methodology on how the results are formulated. LSE director Prof Craig Calhoun described the ranking as "an outstanding result for the school, its staff and our students". University College London was seventh, Imperial eighth and Kings College London 19th.
Elsewhere in the UK, the University of Warwick and University of Durham both performed well ranking 48th and 61st respectively. In the top 200 institutions in the world, 30 UK universities featured, ranking only behind the United States for total number.
