International applications at UK universities up 10% on last year

09 July 2020

Figures released by UCAS have revealed that the number of applications from international students outside the EU are up 10% on the same point last year.

According to UCAS, just over 89,000 international applications had been received and almost 50,000 from EU students for Autumn 2020 entry. If you are from the EU and wish to study in the UK, September 2020 and January 2021 entry is expected to be the last starting period where EU students will still pay the same for study as home students.

Clare Marchant, Ucas chief executive, said: “Universities and colleges are setting out their ambitions to welcome students to their campuses this autumn, with many planning to blend high-quality online learning with face-to-face teaching and support. Confidence is building for an autumn term that safely captures the essence of the academic year’s traditional start as much as possible.”
