UK Vaccine Task Force Chief: The United Kingdom will be free of Coronavirus by this August

18 May 2021

The UK’s Vaccine Task Force Chief Clive Dix has claimed that the United Kingdom will be free of Coronavirus by this August.

What does this mean for you? Well, it means the September entry at universities across the UK would be fully back to normal. This in turn means a return to face-to-face teaching, one-to-one tutoring, and socialising with new friends made from around the world!

"Sometime in August, we will have no circulating virus in the UK", Dix told the Daily Telegraph on Friday, 7th May. Dix also said that he expects everyone in the UK to be vaccinated with at least the first dose by the end of July, by which time they’ll also have been protected from all known variants of the virus. He added that the vaccine booster programme could be pushed back to January or February 2022.

International students can be vaccinated in the UK

With over 51 million vaccines administered, the UK is the second-fastest country to have given the first dose to at least half its population. We at SI-UK are constantly in touch with UK universities to ensure that international students can safely study in the UK from September 2021. International students in the UK will have access to the vaccine, and this means they can get vaccinated quicker in the UK than in their home country.
