University of Essex ranked fifth most international university in the UK

25 January 2016

The University of Essex has been ranked as the 5th most international university in the UK following the Times Higher Education ranking of the most international universities in the world. The ranking looks at the number of international staff, proportion of international students and proportion of research papers published with at least one co-author from another country. Essex was also ranked 21st of the 200 most international in the world.

The ranking is a reflection of Essex's unique international outlook, drawing students from more than 130 countries and making up 40% of the total student population. The University also attracts leading academics from around the world, and fosters innovative collaborations with prominent institutions across the globe.

Vice-Chancellor of the University of Essex Professor Anthony Forster said: “These rankings show we are a genuinely international community attracting outstanding staff and students from every corner of the world. An international outlook is in our DNA with our teaching and research focused on global issues and challenges.”
