University of Oxford to launch new online ‘Mooc’ course

16 November 2016

The University of Oxford has announced plans for a new “massive open online course” – or Mooc for short – with an online US university network.

A Mooc is a course available over the internet without charge to a very large number of people. These courses have grown in popularity over the last few years, but until now Oxford has stayed away from offering them. Looking to the future, Oxford will be running an economics Mooc with online platform edX, set up by Harvard University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Students can begin enrolling on the "From Poverty to Prosperity: Understanding Economic Development" Mooc from February 2017.
